For
over 30 years, this charming old school house, just minutes
off of I-95, has been home of "Country School Antiques."
Originally built in 1911 as Burtonsville Elementary, it
sits peacefully along Route 198. It boasts three floors
plus a cottage full of antique treasures. Purchased by Anne
and Larry Karpman in 1997, their aim has been to make Country
School Antiques an enjoyable place.
There are 18 dealers who offer a delightful mix of quality
antiques including vintage furniture, estate and costume
jewelry, glassware, china, linens, framed prints and mirrors,
decorative accessories and collectibles. As you walk through
the building you will notice how each area reflects the
many specialties of the dealers from Victorian to folk pieces,
and accessories with a diversified selection of items for
every style.
Shoppers will see ever-changing displays that will spark
creative decorating ides for their own homes and many one-of-a-kind
pieces to become their own. There are many quality pieces
offered for reasonable prices.
This year's annual Holiday Open House will be Friday, November
19th, from 7pm to 10pm. All are welcome. Country School
Antiques is located at 3411 Spencerville Road, Burtonsville,
MD, 301-421-9871. They are open from 11am to 6pm Friday
through Sunday; extended holiday hours begin Thanksgiving
weekend.
